Idée formée par avance; préjugé. Vous avez entendu vaguement parler des effets merveilleux du hachish, votre imagination s'est fait une idée particulière, un idéal d'ivresse, et il vous tarde de savoir si la réalité, si le résultat sera adéquat à votre préconception (BAUDEL., Paradis artif., 1860, p.335). Une variété de définitions de l'objet et de la méthode de la sociologie, qui, pour la plupart, ne sont exemptes ni de préconceptions ni de prises de positions dogmatiques (Traité sociol., 1967, p.3).
